Ruth Brown
Ruth was a war baby, born in Devon, where her mother and older sister had been dispatched to safety. After the War, Ruth’s father got a job with The Control Commission and the family had to move to Europe in 1947. On her return to England, she went to Bournmouth School followed by various colleges where she studied Art.
In 1964 Ruth married Author Ken Bown a fellow student and had their first baby in 1966. It was then that she became more interested in children’s books as she began to read them to her son.
She began to work for the B.B.C. doing illustrations for Play School, Jackonory, Watch and You and Me. Her first book was “Crazy Charlie” followed by A Dark Tale. Most of Ruth’s books are about animals.
