Author / Illustrator Profile
Terry Trueman

Terry was born in Birmingham, Alabamah in 1947. He moved to Seattle when he was a year old, but now lives in Spokeane, Washington State. He is a college lecturer, and also teaches writing and literature on live TV in America.

Terry has been writing on and off since he was 17, and is a published poet. He admits to dressing fairly badly most of the time, loves dogs, and enjoys writing more than just about anything.

Stuck in Neutral is Terry’s first novel, and won the 2001 American Prinz Honor Book Award for “excellence in literature for young adults”. He has been told that his book “gives a voice” to his son whose name is Sheehan, and who, like Shawn in the book, was born with cerebral palsy.
