Gill Vickery
Gill Vickery has loved writing and painting since she was very small. She has been a teacher, and also children’s Librarian, which she says is the best job in the world, because you get paid to read children’s books!
She studied art for six years, but her interest in writing has overtaken her interest in art. She is passionate about anything to do with Italy, and is learning to speak Italian.
The Ivy Crown is Gill’s first novel and won the Kathleen Fidler Award last year. This Award is given to a manuscript of a first novel for children between 7 and 12, and pays for it to be published, so this is a real achievement for her.
